Bonnie (Minyard) Gills, 87, of Byrnes Mill died March 15, 2026. Mrs. Gills loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing, waterskiing or tending to the many gardens she cared for throughout the years. She also loved to dance and enjoy music and a good time with those she loved. She will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and the happy memories they created together. Born June 5, 1938, in Big Lake, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Owen and Geneva (Ryan) Minyard.
She is survived by her husband: John Gills Sr., whom she married in June of 1956; two children: Michelle Gills and John (Kristine) Gills; four grandchildren: Rick McCarter Jr., Ashley (Jeremy) Van Meter, Kaycee (Cody) Buddenhagen and John Gills III; seven great-grandchildren: Brooke, Dale, Paisley, Logan, Wyatt, Cecelia and Cody Jr.; a sister: Laverne Bell; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
