Dillingham, Bobby Joe

Bobby Joe Dillingham, 91, of De Soto died June 15, 2026, in Festus. Mr. Dillingham dedicated many years to working as a switchman for the railroad before retiring. He was a board member of St. Andrew's Methodist Church in De Soto, where he served his church family and community for many years. He was also a member of the De Soto C.I.A. Hall, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and fellow community members. Music was one of his greatest passions. He was a familiar face at the weekly jam sessions held at the De Soto Community Center, where he enjoyed gathering with friends, sharing music and creating memories. He will be remembered for his warm smile, friendly spirit and the happiness he found in the fellowship of others. Born Jan. 7, 1935, in Des Arc, he was the son of the late William and Opal (Matthews) Dillingham.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Wanda (Barton) Dillingham.

He is survived by a grandson: Kevin (Kimberly) Larkin of Wakarusa, Kan.; a great-granddaughter: Lillian Larkin of Wakarusa, Kan.; three sisters: Irene Ruble of Sullivan, Delcie Jones of Farmington and Norma Bagley of Overland Park, Kan.; his companion: Kay Emerson of De Soto; and many other family members and friends.

He also was preceded in death by a son: Robert Scott Dillingham; two brothers: Arthur Dillingham and Teddy Dillingham; and a sister: Dorothy Fredlund.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until funeral services at noon Monday, June 22, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Pastor Chris Boyer. Entombment will follow in Peaceful Ridge Mausoleum in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the De Soto C.I.A. Hall, 13466 Hwy. JJ, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
