Black, Betty Lou

Betty L. Black, 94, of Crystal City died Sept. 3, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Black enjoyed sewing, reading and collecting teapots. She was known as a phenomenal cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Born Sept. 6, 1930, in Valles Mines, she was the daughter of the late Charles Louis Buscher and Emma Mae (Carter) Buscher.

She is survived by her husband: Thomas O. Black of Crystal City; a son: Mark W. Sanders of Festus; two granddaughters: Heather (Mike) and Kate (Justin); three great-grandchildren: Daelyn, Addy and Carter; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Charles M. Sanders and Anthony R. Sanders; a stepson: John T. Black; a sister: Emily M. LaMure; and two grandsons: Charles Sanders and Matthew Sanders.

A graveside service was held Sept. 10 in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Ryan Sutton. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
