Florene B. Thal, 97, of Sandy Springs, Ga., died Aug. 23, 2023, in Sandy Springs. Mrs. Thal was a retired entrepreneur. Born Jan. 21, 1926, in Dittmer, she was the daughter of the late Gertrude Mae and Wallace D. Tierney. She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter O. Thal.
She is survived by two children: Pat (Dennis) Albert-Wigbels and Walter Fred Thal; five grandchildren: Sarah Sprayberry, Jason Albert, Lynn Walker, David Thal and Jennifer Weddle; eight grandchildren: Sydney and Brooke Sprayberry, Carson and Camden Albert, Hugo and Leo Thal and Owen and Andrew Widdell; a nephew: Wade Tierney; two nieces: Ellen Roberts and Janice Baniak; as well as many other family members and friends. She also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Sara Thal, two brothers: Norman and Ward Tierney; a granddaughter: Melissa Thal; and one nephew: Wally Tierney.
A memorial service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home
