Billy G. Farr, 91, of Mount Vernon, Ill., formerly of Festus, died April 25, 2023, at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. Mr. Farr was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked for many years for Lee Rowan Manufacturing in north St. Louis County. He attended Mount Vernon Church of God and Calvary Assembly of God. He loved dancing, fishing, reading and spending time with family. Born March 9, 1932 in Festus, he was the son of the late Norman and Selma (DeClue) Farr. He was preceded in death by his wife: Della Darlene (Bravard) Farr, whom he married on June 2, 1956, in Festus and who died in 2007.
He is survived by two daughters: Sally Warden of Wayne City, Ill., and Linda (Dan) Berberich of Festus; a son: Michael (fiancee Marlene Wright) Farr of Bismarck; five grandchildren: Joshua (Amanda) Warden of Wayne City, Geoffrey (Jennifer Henry) Farr of Cisne, Ill., Rebecca (Jeremy) Phillips of Wayne City, Hannah (Joe) Ellis of Festus and Sarah (Steven Forrester) Simmons of McLeansboro, Ill.; a granddaughter-in-law: Angie Masters of Sullivan; nine great-grandchildren: Maggie Farr, Gavin Weber, Kendall Ellis, Dominique Ellis, Phoebe Farr Warden, Noah Phillips, Levi Phillips, Eleanor Phillips and Wyatt Phillips; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandchild: Adrian Masters; and two brothers: Richard (the late Charle) Farr and Raymond Farr.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Mount Vernon Church of God. A celebration of life will be held later in Jefferson County. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
