Johnny Gordon Allen, 79, Pevely

Johnny Gordon Allen, 79, of Pevely died Aug. 12, 2023, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Allen was the owner/operator of Johnny Allen Hauling in Pevely, and he enjoyed helping people and going out with his weekend crew, Kevin Radford, Jim Menke, Frank Heimos, Jerry Holloway and others, as well as spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Katie. Born Oct. 18, 1943, in Caruthersville, he was the son of the late Lucille (Tarlton) and Jewel Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reva Dianne (Cato) Allen.

He is survived by his partner: Virginia Kraus; a son: Johnny “Gordon” (Tracy) Allen II of Dayton, Texas; two sisters: Betty (the late Frank) Blagg of Carthage and Kathy Moore of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren: Johnny Gordon “Trey” Allen III and Tyler (Alyssa) Williams; and a great-grandchild: Toby Allen.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Jerry Allen, Terry Allen, Barry Allen and Leon Allen; and a sister: Pat Hemphill.

Services will be private. Memorials may be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, 2320 Pine Street, St. Louis, 63103. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
