Norma Mae Engler, 86, of Festus died Dec. 17, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Engler retired as a telephone operator from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Festus after 20 years, and worked 20 years for the Missouri State Unemployment Office in Crystal City. She was a founding member of Our Lady Church in Festus and a longtime member of the Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary “Pink Ladies.” She was born May 16, 1932, in Festus, the daughter of the late Alice Mary (Kertz) and Ferdinand H. Eisenbeis. She was preceded in death by her husband: Fritz W. Engler.
She is survived by two sons: Craig (Martha) Engler of Ballwin and Kevin (Chris) Engler of Farmington; a daughter: Laurie (Michael) Livingstone of Festus; a sister: Carla (Bill) Akins of Festus; three sisters-in-law: Patsy, Mary and Diana Eisenbeis, all of Festus; 10 grandchildren: Lisa (Joey) Quigle, Kevin (Cindy) Neary, Sean (Liz) Neary, Aimee (Dustin) Washam, Dan (Jessica) Engler, Andrew (Jessica) Engler, Joe (Kitty) Engler, Michael (Sara) Livingstone, Jonathan (Tina) Livingstone and Alexandria Livingstone; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Bernice Loughran; and three brothers: Everett, Delbert and Glennon Eisenbeis.
Visitation is scheduled from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m at Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus, officiated by Father Gregory Klump. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Crystal Oaks Foundation or Our Lady Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
