Noel Cornelius Grigery, 88, of Carthage died Feb. 3, 2022, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage. Mr. Grigery was an installer and repairman for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and AT&T for more than 38 years. He also volunteered at Good Samaritan for 12 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, family reunions, telling stories, jokes, horseshoes and the outdoors. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Festus, where he was a deacon and a door greeter. Born July 1, 1933, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Allie Tabitha (Clements) and William Thomas Grigery.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Lorinda Mae (Rosan) Grigery, whom he married Oct. 6, 1956; two children: Douglas (Kim) Grigery of Carthage and Susie (Louis) Sees of Pikeville, N.C.; a brother: Thomas Eugene Grigery of Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister: Dorothy Hardisty of De Soto; six grandchildren: Joshua (Brandy) Hepler, Cody (Krystal) Lipe, Brandon (Brenda) Lipe, Louis Sees, Tyler (Sara) Grigery and Charlene Peppes; 14 great-grandchildren: Michael, Aubrey, Grant, Elijah, Addison, Wesley, Dean, Kalliope, Brenden, Graham, Ava, Baker, JD and Sloane; and numerous family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by five siblings: Leroy Grigery, Schrilda Pogue, LaVerne Smith, Shirley Brake and Etta Robertson.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Mahn Funeral Home’s Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Drive, Festus, followed immediately by funeral services officiated by Pastor Matt Culbertson. Burial will be at the Piedmont Masonic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis 63132. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
