Nellie G, Harman-Souder, 103, of Festus died Jan. 4, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Harman-Souder was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and Wesley United Methodist Church. Born Oct. 17, 1913, in Danby, she was the daughter of the late Mamie Ethel (Poston) and Joseph “Lee” Bailey Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Phil Harman and Eldred Souder.
She is survived by three daughters: Audre Hunn of Bloomsdale, Ethel Akins of Bloomsdale and Grace (Tairat “Chai” Sittadachanon) Nugent of Thailand; two sons: Scott (Carin) Harman of Kansas City and Steve (Marge) Harman of Omaha, Neb.; and 27 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: James Harman; a brother: Joseph L. (the late Mary) Bailey Jr.; and two sons-in-law: Arthur Hunn and Joel Akins.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3551 Hwy. 61, in Festus, immediately followed by funeral services officiated by the Rev. Tony Townley. Burial will be in Danby Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
