Nelda M. Casteel, 85, of De Soto died Jan. 18, 2022, at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre. Mrs. Casteel worked in catering at the Stratford Inn in Fenton. She enjoyed fishing, shopping and horses. Born Aug. 23, 1936, in Caledonia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Carr and Vivian (Chapman) Carr Abernathy. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lester Casteel.
She is survived by a son: Darrell (Sue) Casteel of Festus; two daughters: Judy Smith of De Soto and Theresa (Brian) Ott of Arnold; a sister: Mynaun Brown of Farmington; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Sanford Carr.
A funeral service was held Jan. 24 at Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto. Burial will be at a later date in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
