Melva Louise (Schmidt) Bradley, 84, of St. Louis County died May 9, 2022, at Dolan Memory Care in St. Louis County. Mrs. Bradley, a retired accountant, was a gracious hostess who loved her church and community at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Imperial. She had an infectious laugh, a green thumb and was an excellent card player, golfer and dancer. She was an adventurous world traveler, intelligent and college-educated, courageous and strong. She was raised in Barnhart and graduated from Herculaneum High School. Born Oct. 6, 1937, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Schmidt and Maryanne Gray Bridges. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years: William Bradley.

She is survived by two children: Ann (Juan) Camarillo of Texas and Beth (Steve) Ryals of Colorado; six stepchildren: Timothy (Laurie) Bradley, Joseph (Andrea) Bradley, John (Denise) Bradley, Maureen (Earl) Gates, Michael (Ann) Bradley and Daniel (Kim) Bradley; four grandchildren: Katherine, John, Michael and Rachel; a brother: David Schmidt; several step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister: Florine (Ronald) White.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road in south St. Louis County. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 6610 St. Luke's Church Dr., in Imperial. Burial will follow in the Burgess Cemetery behind the church. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's UCC, 6610 St. Luke's Church Dr., Imperial, 63052. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
