Melba Agnes Nokes, 96, of Festus died March 21, 2015, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Nokes was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City. Born Jan. 21, 1919, in Herculaneum, she was the daughter of the late Christine (Horn) Deck Watts and Clement Watts. She was preceded in death by her husband: Hersel W. Nokes Sr.
She is survived by a son: Tim Nokes of Festus and California, Mo.; a sister: Eloise (the late Pete) McGrane; dear friend Lou Eswine of Festus; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: Hersel Nokes Jr.; and a brother: Glen Deck.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, officiated by Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
