Maxine L. Wideman, 93, of De Soto died May 12, 2019, at Crystal Oaks Assisted Living in Crystal City. Mrs. Wideman was a homemaker and a retired school bus driver for the Head Start program. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 71 and of Hillsboro Christian Church. Born Nov. 16, 1925, in Goose Creek, she was the daughter of the late Kathleen (Casey) and John Bliss. She was preceded in death by her husband: Steve “Pete” Wideman.
She is survived by three children: Linda (Terry) Schoenig of Hillsboro, Regina (Teddy) Mayfield of St. Louis and Al (Margaret) Wideman of Hillsboro; a sister: Lois Cordia Pannebecker of De Soto; two sisters-in-law: Jean Bliss (Junior) Knight of De Soto and Norma Jean Bliss of St. Clair; a brother-in-law: Ted Blair of De Soto; eight grandchildren: Lisa (Matt) Easter, Jason (Becky) Schoenig, Scott (Babette) Schoenig, Stephanie (Garrett) Schlett, Steven (Helen) Mayfield, Robert (Tricia) Wideman, Glenn (Allie) Wideman and Neil Wideman; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Verna Blair; three brothers: Wayne Bliss Sr., Clifton Bliss Sr. and Tosca Bliss; a sister-in-law: Geneva Bliss; and two brothers-in-law: Paul Cordia Sr. and Billy Pannebecker.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at the funeral home chapel, officiated by Dale Thebeau. Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto.
