Max George Tassus, 95, Crocker

Max George Tassus, 95, of Crocker, died Aug. 1, 2017, at his home. Mr. Tassus was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in St. Robert. He was a graduate of Por’Kuls High School in Lithuania and worked as a welder for Hussman Refrigeration in St. Louis for over 32 years. He enjoyed his family, his church family, his dog, Muffie, his tractors and cows. Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Wannaggen, Lithuania, he was the son of the late George and Ilse (Tendis) Tassus. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Hilda Hirschman.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Vernetia Tassus of Crocker; two daughters: Lisa (Robert) Weinhold of Sycamore, Ill. and Becky (David) Vogel of Imperial; five grandchildren: Joshua (Mallory) Weinhold, Rachel (Joshua) Phipps, Caleb Weinhold, Jessica Vogel and Jacob Vogel; two great-grandchildren: Bennett Weinhold and Jonathan Weinhold; two sisters-in-law: Irma Wagner and her daughter, Monika, both of Germany and Edna Lofting of Crocker; two nieces: Edith Schiller and Irmgard Rieger; one dear friend: Joe Deurmann; and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Richard Tassus.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today (Aug. 4) followed by funeral services at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 981 Hwy. Z, St. Robert, officiated by Pastor John Perling. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart, officiated by Pastor Robert Weinhold. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of St. Robert for the Bell Tower or the charity of the donor’s choice with envelopes available at the church or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Arrangements are under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
