Mary Lou Dobbs, 87, of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Crystal City, died April 22, 2019, at Atria Assisted Living in Lady Lake, Fla. Mrs. Dobbs was retired from Commerce Bank, where she held various positions and established lifelong friendships. Born Oct. 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Miller) and Lonnie Besand.
She is survived by a daughter: Lynn (the late Rick) Gilbert; a son: Larry (Jill) Dobbs; a brother-in-law: Erwin Vaeth; four grandchildren: Kim (Louis) Holtmann, Kevin (Natalie) Dobbs, Nichole Dobbs and Jonathan (Rachel) Dobbs; and eight great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Proffitt, Megan Smith, Briea and Donovan Dobbs, Rileigh and Baylee Coffman and Elizabeth and Evelyn Dobbs.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy (Marty) Wynn, Rita Besand and Norma Jean Vaeth; four nieces: Kathy Stoll, Donna Trautwein, Denise Ackerman and Jamie Nelson; and numerous family members and friends.
Memorial visitation is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City, officiated by Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Memorials may be made to Birthright of Hillsboro or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
