Mary H. Orr, 87, of Festus died Dec. 30, 2019, at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis County. Mrs. Orr was a longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Crystal City, where she established its annual blood drives. She also was a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) Chapter JA, Order of the Eastern Star 325, and the Jefferson County Squares square dancing group. Born March 9, 1932, in Granite City, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Ada Catherine (Kirchner) and Laverne Cole.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Orr.
She is survived by two daughters: Catherine O. (Mike) Sinnott of Alpharetta, Ga., and Kaye (Mike) Propst of Festus; a son: John Keith (Fay) Orr of Ballwin; nine grandchildren: Christopher Reed, Jonathan (Katie) Reed, Elizabeth (Josh) Humphrey, Amy (Kevin) Smith, Patrick (Kami) Propst, Matthew (Julie) Propst, Abbey Riley, Robert Orr and Andrew Orr; 11 great-grandchildren: Aubrey Reed, Philip Nance, Gabriella Cherry, Steven Pisecki, Areena Smith, Sebastian Smith, Hailey Propst, Jada Propst, Asher Propst, Hines Propst and Riehn Riley; and numerous other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters: Ione (the late Louis) Niemeyer, Lois (the late James) Marsh and Virginia (the late Frank) Carroll; a brother: Charles Cole; and a great-grandson: Cole Propst.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Visitation will resume from 10 until the funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 105 Bailey Road, in Crystal City. Burial will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Mary’s House of Hope, 227 Main St., Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
