Mary Ellen Byrd, 78, of Wildwood died May 9, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Byrd was a graduate of Festus High School and a member of the Methodist faith. She worked as a business manager for various auto dealerships for 40 years. Born March 23, 1939, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Essie (Fisher) and Leo Maher.
She is survived by her husband, John T. Byrd, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Lois (the late James) Cage and Roberta “Bobbie” (the late George) Corvallis; and one brother: Billy (the late Burnell) Maher.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the funeral home, the Rev. Andy Blacksher officiating. Burial is in the Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
