Mary Catherine “Cathy” Friedmeyer, 83, of Festus died Dec. 23, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Friedmeyer was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Potosi, the daughter of the late Nelia Marie (Coleman) Akers and Elmer Turk Elliot. She was preceded in death by her husband: Leonard J. Friedmeyer.
She is survived by 10 sons: Terry (Bonnie) Friedmeyer of Festus, Karry “Dink” (Tina) Friedmeyer of Crystal City, Robert (Tammy) Friedmeyer of Pekin, Ind., Ray (Melissa Priest) Friedmeyer of Bonne Terre, Dennis (Gerda) Friedmeyer of Festus, Lenny (Cyndy) Friedmeyer of Festus, Frankie (Stephanie) Friedmeyer of Festus, Marty (Karen) Friedmeyer of Festus, David “Scott” (Judy) Friedmeyer of Farmington and Doug (Carolyn) Friedmeyer of Farmington; a daughter: Dixie Davis of Festus; two sisters: Rose (the late Bill) Thomure of Crystal City and Virginia “Ginny” (the late Carl) Boyer of Festus; a sister-in-law: Sharon Elliott of Crystal City; 27 grandchildren: Patrick, Alecia, Michael Lee, Joe, Heather, Jacob, Hannah, Michael Ray, Chris, Nikki, Josh, Jason, Justin, Chris, Dan, Lenny J., Libby, Tiffany, Karissa, Brandon, Gracie, CJ, Julia, Robin, Austin, Cody and Emily; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: Tracy Friedmeyer; a sister: Margaret (the late Jimmy) Norton; and two brothers: Frank E. Elliott and Donald (the late Delores) Elliott.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 West Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home. Burial is in the Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to the Karson Friedmeyer (Trisomy 18 Syndrome) Fund, C/O Casey Friedmeyer, 7814 Rain Creek Dr., Henryville, IN 47126. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
