Boyer, Mary

Mary Allen Boyer, 84, of Herculaneum died Dec. 9, 2016, at Festus Manor Nursing Center. Mrs. Boyer was a secretary and worked for the Hudson-Houston Lumber Co. in Oklahoma, Howard Industries in Festus, and the Dunklin R-5 School District in Herculaneum.  She was a member of the Herculaneum United Methodist Church, attended the Gene Autry United Methodist Church in Oklahoma, supported the Buren Chapel A.M.E. Church in Herculaneum and helped to rebuild the Indian Creek Baptist Church at Cross Timbers in Cooke County, Texas.  She was also a supporter of the Girl Scouts of America. Born July 4, 1932, in Berwyn, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Bessie Caroline (Barwis) and Robert Scott Green.

She is survived by her husband, Everett S. “Bud” Boyer; a daughter: Susan (Chris) Wilson of Arnold; a granddaughter: Shannon Wilson; a special nephew: Ray E. Boyer Jr. of Herculaneum; and numerous other nieces and nephews living in Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by a sister: Neoma S. Green; and three brothers: James C. Green, Clifton E. (the late Shirley) Green and infant Douglas Green.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Martinous Walls. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Buren Chapel A.M.E. Church, 150 Brown St., Herculaneum, 63048. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
