Marvin Wayne Jinkerson, 87, of De Soto died July 15, 2021, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Festus. Mr. Jinkerson was a retired carman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the De Soto Park Board, the De Soto Masonic Lodge, the De Soto Railroad Employees Memorial Board, and St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. He loved talking about the railroad and having breakfast at Hardee’s or McDonald’s with his retired friends. Born May 16, 1934, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Turner) and Ivan Cecil Jinkerson.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Maxine Louise (Spry) Jinkerson.
He is survived by four children: David (Mary) Jinkerson, Pamela Pigg, Melanie (Richard) Goldstein and Timothy (Kimberly) Jinkerson; four stepchildren: Donine (Bernie) Schwartz; Mark (Sharon) Wintermute, Charles (Susan) Wintermute and Bradford (Deborah) Wintermute; four sisters: Millie Fryman, Patricia Masson, Carolyn Jane (Bob) Britton; and Glenda (Charles) Smith; six grandchildren: Sean-Patrick Jinkerson, Richie Jinkerson, Natalie Pigg (Corey Dodson), Laura (James) Williams, Annamarie Goldestein (John McCormick) and Neil Goldstein; 10 step-grandchildren: Michael, Justin, Marcus, Alyssa, Danielle, Jack, Tyler, Dylan and Ashley Wintermute and Kirstin (Daniel) Lamers,; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Lou Bratten; and a son-in-law: Steven Pigg.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Monday, July 19, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, followed immediately by services officiated by the Rev. Darlene Payne. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, De Soto. Memorials may be made to the DeSoto Railroad Employees Memorial or Sunnyhill Inc. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
