Martin Collier Jr., 94, of Crystal City died Jan. 30, 2016, at Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing in Crystal City. Mr. Collier was a professional engineer, retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and worked as a self-employed contractor and developer. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. Born Nov. 4, 1921, in Fullerton, Ky., he was the son of the late Martin P. and Marilla (Adams) Collier.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years: Elsie (Hendrix) Collier of Crystal City; five sons: Gary (Jeanie) Collier of Tennessee, Rich (Larissa) Collier of Florida, Marty (Marilyn) Collier of Missouri, Jim (Cynthia) Collier of Missouri and Randy (Lori) Collier of Texas; four siblings: Alice Jones of Ohio, Helen (Jim) Self of Arkansas, Maryland (Dan) Sater of Florida and Fred (Opal) Collier of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: John W. Collier, Harry Collier and Bill Collier; two sisters: Ruth Baker and Joyce Roberts; and two grandchildren: Christopher Todd Collier and Vladek Milushev.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 5, at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Siloam Cemetery in Greenup County, Ky. Memorials may be made to the Mayo Clinic for Parkinson’s disease research. Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home.
