Martha Louise Higdon, 75, of Crystal City died Oct. 31, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Higdon was member of First United Methodist Church of Festus/Crystal City and the Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She retired as a secretary from the St. Gobain bottle plant in Pevely and had taught typing and shorthand at Crystal City and Festus High schools. Born April 17, 1943, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Lois (Lough) and Delmar Vivrett.
She is survived by her husband: Murray W. Higdon; one son: Shawn E. (Ann) Higdon of Arnold; one daughter: Erin (William Jr.) Tisher of Hillsboro; one sister: Mary Ann (Ben) Mordecai of Festus; and three grandchildren: Tyler Laupp, Sydney Laupp and Zoe Tisher.
A memorial gathering will be from 4:30 until the memorial services at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at First United Methodist Church, 113 Grand Ave., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Tish Green. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus in Festus.
