Marjorie Ann White Swafford, 78, of Hillsboro, formerly of Hogan, died July 29, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Swafford was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in De Soto. She attended Upper Carver Creek Grade School and graduated from Annapolis High School. Born Oct. 9, 1936, in Potosi, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Ruth Boswell Pratt. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Lonnie White, whom she married in 1955 and who died in 1992; and Melvin Swafford, whom she married in1998 and who died March 5, 2014.
She is survived by five children: Deborah Ann Conyers of De Soto, Sheryl Huskey of Hillsboro, Lonnie Lee (Theresa) White Jr. of Imperial, David Mark White of Hillsboro and William Herman White of Morse Mill; two sisters: Ada Mae Sherrill of Ironton and Martha Harrison of Arcadia; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren: Steven (Elaine) Swafford, Joe (Judy) Swafford, John (Kathy) Swafford and Debbie Steinbach; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Bill, Bob and Lewis Pratt; and six sisters: Nettie Kreis, Wilma Coad, Mamie Lewis, Mary Lucille Markham, Ellen Thomlinson and Marian Clinard.
Visitation is scheduledfrom 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Cole Family Funeral Home in Ironton. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Wayne Gibson. Burial is in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Cole Family Funeral Home.
