Marietta Elizabeth Alford, 92, of Crystal City, formerly of Springfield, died Nov. 17, 2016, at Baisch Nursing Center in De Soto. Mrs. Alford was a member of Fair Grove United Methodist Church. She was born April 7, 1924, in Fair Grove, the daughter of the late Elvina (Dulin) and Clarence Lawson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Herman Alford.
She is survived by two sons: Michael (Anna) Alford of Crystal City and Bruce (Laura) Alford of Springfield; two sisters: Liela Jacques of Marshfield and Nancy (Ray) Gibson of Blue Eye; two brothers: Tom Lawson of Springfield and Dale (the late Leah) Lawson of Ava; three grandchildren: Matthew (Melissa) Alford, Wendy (Brad) Eubanks and Carrie (Miles) Ross; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Elleen (the late Guido) Morris and Lucille Smith, and a great-granddaughter: Karlie Eubanks.
Private family services were held, with burial in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
