Marcus James Gibson, 33, of Festus died April 2, 2023, at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis. Mr. Gibson will be remembered for his personality, his smile and his unforgettable, infectious laugh. He was loyal to his friends, protective of his family and life of every party, making sure everyone around him had a good time. Born June 16, 1989, in St. Louis, he was the son of Star Lynn (Pippin) Daugherty of Festus and Jimmy Lynn Gibson of Parsons, Tenn.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter: Mayci Gibson of Lebanon, Tenn.; two sisters: Crystal (Kirk Lautner) Manns of Festus and Brenna (Zack) Bethune of Reagan, Tenn.; four brothers: Hunter (Rachel) Gibson and Dillon (Amelia) Gibson, both of Parsons, Tenn., Jason Daugherty of Festus and Aaron Daugherty of Sarasota, Fla.; his stepfather: Darrell Daugherty of Festus; his stepmother: Stephanie Gibson of Parsons, Tenn.; five nieces; and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Hazel and Walter Smith, Linda Pippin and Janice Dixon; an uncle: Cletus Pippin Sr.; and a nephew: Parker Manns.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, April 7, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Charles Jackson. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
