Marcella June (Mabery) Nelms, 84, of Bonne Terre died March 6, 2020, at Scenic Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Herculaneum. Mrs. Nelms worked in the cafeteria at Bonne Terre Senior Nutritional Center and was a member of the Catholic faith. She loved spending time with her family, and she loved cats. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, playing Liverpool Rummy, listening to music and dancing the jitterbug. Born April 10, 1935, in Bonne Terre, she was the daughter of the late Ralph T. and Velma A. (Govero) Mabery.
She was preceded in death by her husband: John E. Nelms Sr.
She is survived by five children: John E. Nelms Jr., Timothy “Tim” (Soni) Nelms, Rebecca “Becky” (David) Flatbush, Cecil Nelms and Ben (Kathie) Nelms; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; five siblings: Sandra Shefler, Hope (Clarence) Kohut, Brian (Becky) Mabery, Ronnie Mabery and Sharon (Kenny) Belew; nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a grandson: Brent; and 15 siblings.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home, 1116 N. Desloge Drive, in Bonne Terre on, and will resume at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, until the funeral services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Adams-Hillcrest Cemetery in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home.
