Mabel Estelle Harness, 92, of De Soto died Dec. 31, 2020, at the Villas Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Harness was a homemaker and had worked at the De Soto Shoe Factory and the North End Tavern for many years. She was a member of the De Soto VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, spending time outdoors, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and spending time with family. Born Nov. 20, 1928, in Desloge, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Delia Phillipine (Ratty) Nash. She was preceded in death by her husband: Glen L. Harness.
She is survived by a daughter: Elaine (Ron) Simmons of De Soto; a son: Larry (Pat) Doebert of De Soto; four grandsons: Benjamin (Tracy) Simmons of De Soto, Joshua Simmons of De Soto, Andi (Jennifer) Simmons and Larry Gene Doebert of Sikeston; four great-grandchildren: Kayla (Gabriel) Simmons of Wichita, Kan., Brittany (Brendan) Simmons of De Soto, Colton Simmons of De Soto and Olivia Simmons of De Soto; a sister-on-law: Faye Nash of Winona; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons: U.S. Army Specialist Phillip Doebert and Lester Voyles; three brothers: Orville Nash, Wyman Nash and Grover Nash; and four sisters: Alma Hamby, Reva Spangler, Ethel Laird and Mary Rayoum.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Timothy Bradford House, c/o Enterprise Bank & Trust, 121 Jefferson Square, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
