Lorraine Bay, 92, of De Soto died June 4, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Bay was a homemaker. After graduating from high school in Tulsa, Okla., she went to business school to study bookkeeping. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter IX and a longtime member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. Born Aug. 7, 1925, in Tulsa, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Clara (Robertson) and Darrell “Buck” Sullenger. She was preceded in death by her husband: H. William “Bill” Bay, whom she married Nov. 29, 1946.
She is survived by three children: Bert (Peggy) Bay of Festus and Kay (Glen Coburn) Bay and Carol (Tom) Hatton, both of Dallas, Texas; a brother: Darrell (the late Sandra) Sullenger of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister-in-law: Halene (the late Marlowe) White of Leavenworth, Kan.; four grandchildren: Bryson Bay, Lauren Bay, Claire Coburn and Ty (Stacey) Hatton; two great-grandchildren: Trip and Sydney; and her caretakers: Donna Whitener, Lori Wisner and Kerra Dreher.
She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Mel (May) Bay and Harlan (Dorothy) Bay.
A funeral service was held June 10 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Darlene Payne. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
