Lloyd Pigg, 93, of Hillsboro died Jan. 24, 2017, in Festus. Mr. Pigg was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Hillsboro. He worked in construction as a hod carrier and in janitorial services at Jefferson College. He enjoyed gardening, cutting grass, woodworking and spending time with his family. Born May 25, 1923, in Hillsboro, he was the son of the late Preston and Susie (Layman) Pigg.
He is survived by his wife: Leah (ReCar) Pigg of Hillsboro; three sons: Bob (Brenda) Pigg of De Soto, Richard (Cindy) Pigg of Hillsboro and Edward (Tammy) Pigg of Kokomo, Ind.; three daughters: Donna Frazier of Big Sandy, Tenn., Jane (Steve) Martino of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ellen Hayes of Festus; a brother: Cleo Pigg of Hillsboro; a sister: Grace McKeen of De Soto; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Jackie Witwicky; seven brothers: Jim, Ira, Claude, Floyd, Jesse, Charles and Johnny; two sisters: Bertha Brauch and Alice Goodwin; and two sons-in-law: Sam Frazier and Warren Hayes.
A funeral service was held Jan. 28 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, officiated by Father Chris Holtmann. Burial was in the Good Shepherd Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
