Howard, Leslie

Leslie Allen Howard, 82, of De Soto died Nov. 23, 2015, at Festus Manor in Festus. Mr. Howard was retired from National Lead Co. and operated Opal’s Restaurant and Motel in Hillsboro. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. Born July 1, 1933, in St. James, he was the son of the late Thomas Bernard Howard and Opal (Johnson) Howard Walker.

He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth (Hesch) Howard of De Soto; three children: Arthur (Amor) Howard of South Carolina, Bruce (Tammy) Howard of De Soto and Curt Howard of De Soto; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister: Winifred Moore.

Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Camp Sunnyhill or the Special Olympics. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
