Leroy “Red” Bequette, 75, of De Soto died Sept. 11, 2019, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mr. Bequette was a trashman. He was a member of the De Soto Lions and a volunteer at the De Soto Food Pantry. Born Dec. 11, 1943, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Rose Agnes (Emily) and Floyd Joseph Bequette.
He is survived by his wife: Jannette (Kyle) Bequette; five children: Michelle (Eric) Fjone of Festus, Shane (Terrie’l) Bequette of De Soto, Laura (Scot) Lane of Dacula, Ga., Patty Hicks of Park Hills and Billy Bequette of Park Hills; a sister: Judy (Bob) Fadler of Leadwood; two brothers: Paul (Doris) Bequette of Imperial and David (Susie) Bequette of House Springs; and nine grandchildren: Taylor, Caleb, Eric “E.J.,” Mia, Steven, Josh, Dennis, Ashley and one to be born.
He was preceded in death by five siblings: Tommia (Betty and Grace) Bequette, Lena (David Sr.) Whitter, Chuck (Deloris) Bequette, Marion (Walter Sr.) Chapman and Delbert Bequette.
A memorial gathering will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, followed immediately by a memorial service officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, 1201 Macklind Ave., St. Louis 63110.
