Leona Annie Thornhill, 102, of De Soto, died May 29, 2017, at Baisch Nursing Center in De Soto. During World War II, Mrs. Thornhill worked as a defense contractor at Knapp-Monarch. She also worked at the De Soto Shoe Factory. Born Feb. 20, 1915, in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Annie (Lapee) Tyrey. She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald R. Thornhill.
She is survived by a daughter: Linda Malloy of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister: Marie Tyrey.
A funeral service was held June 2 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Pastor Terry Crank. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
