Larry W. Highley, 65, of De Soto died Feb. 7, 2019, at Baisch Nursing Center in De Soto. Mr. Highley was a painter and worked in construction. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the VFW post in Desloge. He loved to socialize, fish, read, put together puzzles and hold barbecues, and he loved all sports, especially St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Born Oct. 27, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Elbert and Isabelle (Frydach) Highley.
He is survived by a son: Travis (Stacy) Highley of Iowa; four brothers: Ron Fredock of De Soto, E. John Highley of Overland Park, Kan., Fred Highley of Kansas City, Kan., and Maynard Highley of Hillsboro; a sister: Laureen (Robert) Nichols of De Soto; and one grandchild: Cayden Highley of Iowa.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the De Soto Community Center, 400 Boyd St., in De Soto. Burial will be held at a later date in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the college education fund for Mr. Highley’s grandson. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
