Larry Elmer Doebert, 73, of De Soto died Oct. 10, 2021, at his home in De Soto. Mr. Doebert was a truck driver for Complete Auto & Ryder and Cassen’s Auto Transit and was a member of the Teamsters Union Locals 64 and 682. After retirement, he worked for Chico’s and Sons Produce in De Soto. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Teamsters Union, the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed poker, old Western TV shows, gunsmithing, Cardinals baseball, yardwork, “Jeopardy,” jokes and competing in shooting matches. Born Aug. 25, 1948, in Valles Mines, he was the son of the late Mabel Estelle (Nash) and Clarence “Tac” Doebert.
He is survived by his partner of nearly 30 years: Patricia (Gamble) Wilson Doebert; a son: Larry Gene Doebert of Sikeston; a granddaughter: Braelyn Rae Doebert; Patricia’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Rodney, Lisa, Clarissa, Katie, Kyle, Kya, Emma, Kaebre, Ryder, and Kaylor; a sister: Elaine (Ron) Simmons of De Soto; three nephews: Benjamin (Tracy), Joshua and Andi (Jennifer) Simmons; three great-nieces: Kayla, Brittany and Olivia Simmons; a great-nephew: Colton Simmons; and a stepbrother: Marty (Sherry) Voyles of Arnold; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by a stepfather: Glen L. Harness; a brother: U.S. Army Spec. Phillip Ray Doebert; a half-brother: Lester Voyles; and his grandparents: Fred Doebert and Emma (Cantrell) Doebert and Benjamin Franklin Nash and Delia Phillipine (Ratty) Nash.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Deitrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Visitation will resume at 11 a.m. until services at noon Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Matt Woods. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Olive Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
