Reece, Larry

Larry “Beans” Reece, 76, of Festus died Feb. 28, 2020. Mr. Reece was a retired automobile welder and a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, Elks Lodge 1721 and VFW Post 3777, and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time with his family. Born June 7, 1943, in Festus, he was the son of the late Edna (Drissel) and Philmore Reece Sr.

He is survived by two sons: Kenneth (Dee Dee) Reece of Florida and Lonnie Reece of Festus; a daughter: Laurel Reece of Arizona; a brother: Bobby Reece of Festus; a sister: Betty Garrett of Festus; eight grandchildren: Elena Reece, Andersen Reece, Aidyn Reece, Austin Reece, Taylor Reece, Jayden Reece and Maddie DeClue; and his longtime companion: Evelyn DeClue.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Philmore Reece Jr.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Terry Crank. Burial with full military honors will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Fisher House, 1 Jefferson Barracks Road, St. Louis, 63125. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
