Kenneth Dale Crawford, 81, of Crystal City died Jan. 28, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield. Mr. Crawford served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, then spent time working in Washington, D.C., with intelligence services, especially liaising with foreign dignitaries. He also taught at several Indian reservations. After leaving the military, he had a 40-plus-year career as a truck driver. He was a volunteer with Hematite Head Start and the Ozark Food Pantry and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed writing and performing songs and was a member of the International Singer-Songwriter Association. A member of Twin City Church of Christ, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and reading the Bible. Born July 9, 1940, in Windsor, he was the son of the late Lou Zetta (Folsom) and Thomas Crawford. He was preceded in death by two wives: Bonita (Estell) and Rose-Mary (Misuraca) Crawford.
He is survived by his wife: Carol Ann (Chapman/Bradley) Crawford, whom he married Aug. 29, 1992; a son: Terry (Lisa) Crawford of Kingdom, Ariz.; three daughters: Tammie (Cody) Bryan of Sedalia, Rhonda (Richard) Seng of Lamar and Rebecca (Kevin) Hailey of Pevely; two stepsons: Leon (Lyn) Bradley of Owensville and Lee (Stephanie) Bradley of Surprise, Ariz.; a son-in-law: Jim Parsons of St. Charles; a brother: Robert Crawford of Lebanon; two sisters: Linda (the late Charles) Bowman of Purdey and Anita Von Cannon of Augusta, Mont.; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Thomas Crawford; a daughter: Rose-Marie Parsons; two stepdaughters: Ann Marie and Theresa Bradley; a grandson: Conner Burgess; three sisters: Emma Crawford, Louisa (Edward) Bowe and Jean (James) Pirtle; and three brothers: Bill (Sussie) Crawford, James (Betty) Crawford and Ray (Barbara) Crawford.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, S.D. 57326. Arrangements were under the direction of Cypress Pointe Cremation of St. Louis.
