Kathleen Porter, 77, of Grand Island, Neb., died Feb. 5, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Porter was a postmaster, an author, a special education teacher, a manager of Goodwill collections in the St. Louis area and a director of study into desegregation in St. Louis schools. She earned a master’s degree from Webster University after attending Oklahoma State University and St. Louis University and graduating high school in Roff, Okla. She was included in the 13th edition of Marquis’ “Who’s Who of American Women.” She enjoyed entertaining and remodeling homes. Born Nov. 9, 1942, in Sulphur, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Louise (Hunter) and Auther Harris.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Ron Porter; three children: Kevin (Kim) Porter of St. Louis, Kelly (Kelly) Rafferty of St. Paul, Neb., and Kristi (Richard) Clinton of Ste. Genevieve; eight grandchildren: Ron, Todd, Kayla and Brandy Porter, Derek and Molly Rafferty and Shane and Heather Wideman; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother: Phil Harris of Amarillo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Mark Harris.

Visitation be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 S. Locust St., in Grand Island, Neb., immediately followed by a celebration of life officiated by Dan Naranjo. Memorials may be made to the CHI Health Regional Cancer Center at St. Francis in Grand Island or the Grand Island Humane Society. Arrangements are under the direction of All Faiths Funeral Home.
