Karen Leigh Medley, 64, of De Soto died Oct. 17, 2020, in Dittmer. Ms. Medley was retired from the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office, where she had been employed as a corrections officer at the Jefferson County Detention Center in Hillsboro for 26 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Festus and the DeSoto Amvets Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed attending car shows, playing golf, detailing cars and doing yard work, but her happiest moments came from socializing with her family and many friends. She was born July 27, 1956, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Dale Marion and Lila Lorraine (Blum) Medley.
She is survived by three sisters: Debbie (Mark) Landau of Dittmer, Susan (Marty) Coleman of De Soto and her twin, Kathy Medley of De Soto; a nephew: Matthew Coleman of De Soto; and numerous cousins, other relatives and many dear friends and neighbors.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in DeSoto. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Tish Green. The family requests masks be worn. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
