June Darlene Bolen, 78, of De Soto died Jan. 17, 2022, at her home. Ms. Bolen earned her master’s degree from Webster University and retired as an international program management specialist from U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. She was an active member of Ketha Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the organ for church services, playing the piano, traveling, attending events at the Community Center of De Soto, delivering Meals on Wheels and spending time with her Mary Kay customers, her family and friends. Born Jan. 1, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of the late Rosa Nell (Winstead) and William Clifton Hardwick. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years: Jerry Frederick Bolen, whom she met playing tennis in Capaha Park and married June 16, 1962.
She is survived by three daughters: Desiree (fiancé Eric Long) O’Harver of St. Louis, Renata (Peter) Stollhans of Destin, Fla., and Faith (David Abernathy) Bolen of Richwoods; a son Paul (fiancé Christina Cantrell) Bolen of De Soto; two sisters: Norma (John) McKee of Festus and Donna (the late Gilbert “Gil”) Janes of The Villages, Fla.; two brothers: William (Paulette) Hardwick Jr. of Greenbrier, Ark., and Roger Hardwick of Belleview; nine grandchildren: Jacquelyn O’Harver, Jessica O’Harver, Thomas Stollhans, Melanie (fiancé Abdiel Munoz) Stollhans, Michael (Erica) Rogers, Nicholas (fiancé Crystal Lesinski) Rogers, Samantha Lowe, Brandon Bolen and Zachary (fiancé Brenda Davis) Bolen; two great-grandchildren: Ashton and Jade; and a special friend and companion: Ronald Olsen of Barnhart. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Myrna (Don) Linnenkamp and Joan (John) Massa.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Ketha Heights Baptist Church, 3479 Frontier Road, in Festus, officiated by Brother Greg Booher. Burial is in the Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau. Memorials may be made to Ketha Heights Baptist Church Missions Fund, 3479 Frontier Road, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
