Joseph R. Sauer, 54, of Herculaneum, formerly of De Soto, died April 13, 2020, at Scenic Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Herculaneum. Mr. Sauer was the organist for several Catholic churches in the area. He was born March 19, 1966, in Festus, the son of the late Bernard and Marian (Grieshaber) Sauer.
He is survived by a daughter: Katie (Ryan) Cornell of De Soto; six siblings: Robert Sauer of Oakville, Cathy (Keith) Davis of McKinney, Texas, Elizabeth Sauer of Festus, David (Judy) Sauer of Oakville, Evan (Jeanne) Sauer of St. Louis and James (Vhine) Sauer of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandchildren: Riley and Hadley.
Funeral services were private, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials in the form of Masses may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. 3rd St., De Soto, 63020. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
