Joseph Michael Roach, 73, of Hillsboro died Dec. 28, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Roach was a hard worker who spent his career transporting goods and materials across the country. He was known for his strong work ethic, his reliability, his professionalism and his dedication to safety. He enjoyed watching John Wayne and old black/white movies, fishing, hunting, and rescue dog, especially his favorite, Izzy. Born June 9, 1949, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Jessie and Ollie Roach.
He is survived by his wife: Joan Roach, whom he married Oct. 2, 2004; three children: Douglas Lawson, Kathryn Roach and Amy Lawson; four grandchildren: Nikia Lawson, Whitney East, Rosie Lawson and Adalida Lawson; and three siblings: Betty Roach, Mary Roach and Nina Roach. He was preceded in death by three siblings: James Roach, Billy Roach and Jesse Roach.
Memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Arrangements were under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
