Joseph Lee Combs, 79, of Festus died Oct. 20, 2014, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Combs was a salesman in the marketing and advertising industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of First Christian Church/Disciples of Christ in Festus. Born July 10, 1935, in Flat River, he was the son of the late Ida Mae (Haney) and Marvin Combs.
He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth “Betty” (Mull) Combs; two sons: Rick Combs of Park Hills and Lee (Summer) Combs of Florida; a daughter: Michelle (Tim) Mosley of Crystal City; a sister: Janet (Bob) Pauls of Bonne Terre; 10 grandchildren: Justin Combs, Joey Combs, Shyanne Combs, Andrew (Bonnie) Mosley, Jesse (Jessica) Mosley, Ian (Megan) Mosley, Erin Mosley, Brittany Combs, Courtney Combs and Tristan Combs; and nine great-grandchildren: Taylor, Devin, Owen, Emma, Ashlynne, Eli, Aiden, Rosilyn and Hannah Mosley.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Visitation is at 11 a.m. and funeral services at noon Thursday, Oct. 23, at First Christian Church/Disciples of Christ in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Larry Grubbs. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
