Joseph Bergman, 82, of Arnold died Aug. 19, 2016, in St. Louis. Mr. Bergman was a retired English professor at St. Louis Community College. Born June 30, 1934, in Baileyville, Kan., he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Enneking) and Joseph H. Bergman.
He is survived by his wife: Sue Bergman; two daughters: Barbara Reid of Columbia and Kathryn Bergman of Arcata, Calif.; a stepdaughter: Jill Brethauer of Arnold; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Elizabeth Bergman.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County, followed immediately by funeral services. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Hoffmeister South County Chapel.
