John Shelton, 86, of Cedar Hill died April 14, 2022, in Cedar Hill. Mr. Shelton enjoyed spending time his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing country music on his guitar and fishing. He was known for his banana pudding, fixing fences, training horses and woodworking. Born Sept. 3, 1935, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Edna (Null) and Ausby Shelton.

He is survived by his wife: Norma Jean (Bennett) Shelton; four children: Tami Glass of Byrnes Mill, Craig (Kathy) Shelton of Cedar Hill, Derrell (Zelda) Shelton of Sullivan and Gerrell (Teresa) Shelton of Dittmer; two stepsons: Wil (Holly) Nance and Gary (Beth) Nance, both of Nashville; and numerous family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: James Null and Joanna Christina; a stepson: Mark Nance; and seven siblings: George Shelton, Edward Shelton, Ausby Shelton, Irene Shelton, Margaret Brown, Marilee Walka and Edna Shelton.

Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary, Cedar Hill.
