John Scott Warren, 50, Festus

John Scott Warren, 50, of Festus died Sept. 3, 2022, at his home. Mr. Warren was an Eagle Scout and a 1990 Chillicothe High School graduate. While attending the University of Missouri in Columbia, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho and earned a degree in political science. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol for more than 25 years beginning in 1996 and earned the rank of master sergeant in 2020. He worked in Jefferson County for the majority of his years with the highway patrol. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church Festus-Crystal City where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. He will be remembered for his kindness, great sense of humor, integrity and service to others. Born Aug. 5, 1972, in Enid, Okla., he was the son of Janet Sue (Cox) and Larry Warren of Chillicothe.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Julie (Campbell) Warren; two children: Abigail and Lucas Warren; brothers David (Alisha) Warren and Mark (Candy) Warren, both of Chillicothe; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert and Janice Campbell: two sisters in-law: Melissa and Kristin (Chuck) Southerland; four nieces; three nephews; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Harold and Carla Warren and Clarence and Frances Cox; and two aunts: Linda (Warren) Smith and Doris Cox.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at First Baptist Church Festus-Crystal City, 107 N. Truman Blvd, in Crystal City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the church, officiated by pastors Thomas Worsham and Charles McLain. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal Cit. Memorials may be made to The MASTERS for the families of state troopers killed in the line of duty, at 780 County Road 383, Whitewater, 63785, or to the First Baptist Church Festus-Crystal City Youth Ministry. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
