John Russell Charleville, 73, of Festus died Sept. 7, 2019. Mr. Charleville was retired from Dow Chemical in Pevely and was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed farm work, trail rides with his favorite horse “Rooster”, and adventures in the great outdoors. Born Feb. 16, 1946, in Bloomsdale, he was the son of the late Virginia Marie (Bayer) Charleville-Boyer and Russell E. Charleville.
He is survived by his wife: Sharon (Politte) Charleville; a daughter: Sara Marie (Christopher) Colantuono of Festus; a son: John “Travis” (Dhaniela) Charleville of Webster Groves; a grandson: Anthony James Colantuono of Festus; a sister: Mary Joyce (the late Karl) Huskey of Crystal City; a niece: Karla Marie (Kevin) Dennis of Festus; and his mother-in-law: Dorothy (Coleman) Politte.
He was preceded in death by a nephew: Kent Russell (Julie survives of Festus) Huskey.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Dan Shaughnessy. Burial with full military honors will follow at 11 a.m. at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
