John Reed Bonner, 73, of Catawissa died Jan. 4, 2022. Mr. Bonner served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of VFW Post 5468 in Eureka. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing pool with the boys and working in his yard. Born Jan. 16, 1948, in Davisville, he was the son of the late George Henry and Anna Marie (Hewkin) Bonner.

He is survived by his wife: Kathryn Ann Parker; six children: Tracy (Oscar) Tirado of Brandon, Fla., Charles (Kelly) Bonner of Hillsboro, Faith Hickelheim of St. Louis, Kristen Solano of Riverview, Fla., Hope Lambert of Pacific and John (Alyssa) Bonner of De Soto; two sisters: Debbie Bonner of Davisville and JoAnn Bonner of Union; 11 grandchildren: Casey (Amanda) Smith, Hollie (Jerry) Bone, Tyler Hyde, Sammy Davis, Bailey Davis, Elisabeth Bonner, Angel Bonner, Lukas Oliver, Amanda Oliver, Jonathan Brewer and Layla Bonner; and five great-grandchildren: Bentley Smith, Draven Bone, Aiden Zummwalt, Hunter Bone and Greyson Davis. He was preceded in death by a brother: George Ronald “Ronnie” Bonner; a grandson: Jacob Solano; and his mother-in-law: Viola Jewel Parker.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Bell Funeral Home, 709 W. Union St., in Pacific, officiated by the Rev. Tommy Schmitt. Burial with full military honors will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell Funeral Home.
