John Franklin Cooper, 80, of Festus died Oct. 3, 2018, at Fountainbleau Nursing Center in Festus. Mr. Cooper taught fifth grade in the Crystal City School District until his retirement in 1991, after which he worked as a door greeter at Walmart in Festus. He enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, going to car shows and meeting and visiting friends every morning at Cracker Barrel. He attended Victory Church in Pevely. Born April 26, 1938, in Puxico, he was the son of the late Cora Agnes (Wills) and John Roy Cooper.
He is survived by a daughter: Ashley Cooper of Clayton; a brother: Homer Cooper of California; and a sister: Lois Rhodes of Farmington.
She was preceded in death by six brothers: Carl, Norman, Ralph, Albert, Floyd and Howard Cooper; and two sisters: Edith Cooper and Valera Knagg.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct., 19, at Puxico Cemetery, 23698 Cemetery Road, in Puxico. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
