Mouser, John

John Francis Mouser, 84, of De Soto died Dec. 3, 2022, at Delmar Gardens South in St. Louis County. Mr. Mouser was a retired electrical inspector with McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in De Soto. He enjoyed his tractor and being outside, and made wonderful wooden toys in his workshop. Born Oct. 8, 1938, in Marquand, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Ethel (Stephens) Mouser. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years: Vivian (Griggs) Mouser, who died in 2017.

He is survived by two children: Martha (Terry) Stephens of De Soto and Marvin (Debbie) Mouser of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law: Maggie Mouser of Marble Hill; two brothers-in-law: Delbert (Shirley) Griggs and Rolla (Jeannie) Griggs, both of Potosi; five grandchildren: Mark (Jessica) Stephens of De Soto, Matthew (Danielle) Stephens of Columbus, Ga., Susan (Daniel) Ferrell of Pevely, Amanda (Stuart) Deming of Nashville, Tenn., and Megan (Michael) Hurmiz of Huntingdon, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren: Duke and Wes Mouser, with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by a brother: George R. Mouser; and two sisters: Margaret (Wilford) Combs and Mary Belle Bradshaw.

 Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1401 S. Fifth St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the church, officiated by Brother Bob Thebeau. Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the John and Vivian Mouser Scholarship, Welch College, 1045 Bison Trail, Gallitan, TN 37066; or to the Joy Makers, c/o First Free Will Baptist Church, 1401 S. Fifth Street, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
