Merideth, John

John Douglas Merideth, 85, of Festus died Jan. 8, 2023, at Delmar Gardens South in south St. Louis County. Mr. Merideth was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired machinist from Engel Industries in St. Louis. He was a member of Calvary Christian Church in Festus. Born Sept. 7, 1937, in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., he was the son of the late Ethel Mandy Louetta (Baker) and John Richard Merideth.

He is survived by his wife: Helen Jean (Treece) Merideth; a daughter: Anita (Ron) Warren of Pevely; two sons: Richard (Kristie) Merideth of Festus and Curtis (Sarah) Merideth of Avenel, N.J.; a sister: Ann (the late Don) Brooks of Festus; seven grandchildren: Kaymi, Lexi, Britany, Jacob, Lucas, Aubrey and Jonas; and a great-grandson: Liam.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Evadeen (the late Pete) Choat and Betty (the late Richard) Aslin; and three brothers: Jimmy (the late Vera) Baker, Dallas (the late Mary Lou) Merideth and Bill (the late Vivian) Merideth.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon, Tuesday Jan. 17, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Luke Morris and Pastor Kenneth Lambert. Burial with full military honors is in the National  Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
